This project was initially conceived as an invertible shoeshine chair. The symbolic act of inverting the chair to its mirror orientation suggests the possibility of the server and the served changing roles voluntarily.
I designed and built this wall shelf at Penland School of Crafts. Over 90 pieces of cherry wood went into its construction.
These tower sculptures were inspired by a line by poet Gregory Corso, “Nothing sits on nothing in a nothing of many nothings a nothing king.”
